When I Grow Up, I Want To Be A Rapper

rakimGrowing up, many of us wanted to be a lot of things – sometimes all at the same time. For me, at a point, i wanted to be an entertainer. Well, not just an entertainer, but a gifted rap artiste.

Unfortunately, this dream has remained what it is – a dream. Well, at least, until now.

I was overjoyed today. Apparently, all hope is not lost yet. i can still be who i wanted to be – a famous rapper with loads of dollars, fleet of fast cars, babes hanging onto each arm and paparazzis all around.

You see, i stumbled onto this app in the android store, AUTORAP

Developed by a company called Smule. This app apparently “turns speech into rap, and corrects bad rapping”.

There are a couple of different ways to use AutoRap. In Talk mode, you can simply say anything into the microphone and let AutoRap do all of the work. You don’t have to rhyme, be on pitch, or exhibit any musical talent at all. Just speak, and the app will turn it into a rap. Also, there’s Rap mode. With Rap mode, you can play a premium song by an artist, and see the lyrics scroll across the screen. You can do your best to rap along, but in the end, AutoRap will adjust your pitch and timing to fit the original track. From either mode, you can save your recording and share it with friends.

I have been able to drop some hard beats. Thinking seriously of sending my demo tape to Don Jazzy.

Here comes the new rapper in town, MC Wales. All you sucker MCs, watch out.

PS: A similar app is also avalaible for those who would rather whine and sing than rap. Sissies! Check out SONGIFY at the google app store.
